Learn how to renew an Ontario health card. You need a valid card to get coverage through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Renew using your driver's licence or Ontario Photo Card

The renewed card will be mailed to you in approximately 4 to 6 weeks

Valid for 5 years

You must renew your health card every 5 years

Renew your heath card

Renew your health card online using your valid driver's licence or valid Ontario Photo Card as proof of identity and residency in Ontario. Your driver's licence or Ontario Photo Card will not be renewed as part of this transaction.

Check if you are eligible to renew your health card online.

Make sure you have:

  • your most recent health card
  • your current driver's licence (not suspended, expired or cancelled), or your current Ontario Photo Card (not expired or cancelled)
  • a printer to print your temporary documents
